#Anonymous Just Declared “Total War” Against the Donald Trump Campaign

(ANTIMEDIA) Donald Trump has a new enemy, and this one doesn’t have any salient physical characteristics the Republican presidential candidate can derisively mock unless he takes aim at the Guy Fawkes mask. In a new video, the hacktivist collective Anonymous has declaredtotal war on Trump, claiming that his “hateful campaign” has legitimized “appalling actions and words.”

Donning the  idiosyncratic mask that has become a symbol of anarchism and anti-establishment revolutionary fervor, the Anonymous spokesman reached out to all hacktivists around the world:

We need you to shut down his campaign and sabotage his brand.”

The group claims to have already released Trump’s social security number and they plan on shutting down a variety of pro-Trump websites, including TrumpChicago.com, donaldjtrump.com, trump.com, trumphotelcollection.com, donaldtrump2016online.com and citizensfortrump.com.

Invoking the hashtag #OpTrump, Anonymous called for all citizens to take action, declaring that one doesn’t need to be a hacker to help.

An interesting facet to Anonymous is that there are multiple splinter groups and it seems to have no centralized leadership. Members of Anonymous are spread throughout the world, which reinforces their slogan: We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.

One prospective trajectory that could result from a successful hacking operation on Donald Trump is that should Trump become president, he may target hacktivist groups in a new kind of war on terror. With the Internet likely to be the next major frontier of civic action, a Patriot Act-style legislative reaction to cyber terror could not only endanger hacktivist collectives, but net neutrality itself.

Anonymous has announced many targets over the years, including the Church of Scientology, Sony, ISIS, and a wide variety of government groups, individuals, and corporations. Their newest enemy happens to be someone who has openly expressed a desire to prosecute a legal war on journalists.

Could a hacktivist group like Anonymous or WikiLeaks finally humble Trump? Conversely, with their newest campaign, is Anonymous playing with fire? If elected, Trump may very well be the patsy who takes the War on Terror to its logical next phase a comprehensive war on Internet activism and information whistleblowers.

  1. So now Anonymous has become the internet censor police have they? Because let's be clear here; Donald Trump has done what? Um… Spoken out loud? Said things others do not like? All in an effort to be elected to public office. Why let's bandr together to become an anonymous internet gang and let's get him!!!! As thats completely NOT HYPOCRITICAL is it? Its not like he's carpet bombing people like Senator Cuz suggested, or making the desert sand glow in the dark as who stated they would do? (And a hint for you it was not Dodnald Trump BUT they do hold public office). Meanwhile Anonymous said nothing about that. And its not like Donald Tump lied about a terrible situation (Benghazi) and impeded the investigation into Benghazi and then lied some more like Hilary Clinton, because… Anonymous never said a word about that either.

It's not like he bought his way into political office for personal gain, like Rick Scott did, which Anonymous did nothing about… Because well because… Well not think up a reason why Anonymous never did that, they just didn't want to. After all it's not like its important right? Its not like any of the above is important right? BUT going after Donald Trump suddenly IS important right?

So now Anonymous wants to jump on the Anti-Trump band wagon because its such a nice pretty band wagon and there are plenty of seats and its definitely going to get you attention so pile on, pile on!

Its very sad. People have come to believe that the Anonymous collective are a group of civic minded people who believe in attempting to redress the balance that injustice creates. That they speak for others when they cannot speak for themselves, yet not in this instance. Nope! In this instance PEOPLE CAN SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. Yet Anonymous are going to actively seek out Donald Trump, they are even demanding others help them. Find his secrets!!!!! Unveil them and expose him.

How about you do something useful Anonymous? How about you continue with the OPISIS? Not sexy enough? Is the operation over now? What about Op-Clinton and expose those two for the murderous liars people have suggested they are multiple times. Whitewater ring a bell? No surviving members of that little expose? Not seem odd?

How about exposing Turkey for its human rights atrocities it continues to ignore? Not sexy enough?

Op-Trump is nothing more than political grand standing, self aggrandising, and shameless self promotion. Anonymous you should be ashamed of yourselves.

  2. If someone doesn't like what Trump is saying… don't listen to him! What right do they have preventing others from hearing him? I'm probably voting 3rd party but all this hatred being directed at Trump seems ridicilous and pretty damn hypocritical.

  7. I'd like to point out that such a large group of people (the ones on this "bandwagon", which I'll add is the wrong term to use, as it implies that people are following a crowd simply to follow the crowd, not out of a personal desire to accomplish or participate in the group's goal) attacking the campaign of single person is a bit of a representation of how badly the people want him shut down.

This is not to say that other candidates don't have their quirks as well. Many people are anti-Hillary for the reasons you've listed, and everyone has merit to their own logic (I tend to agree with you on that issue). However, it's my opinion that Anonymous isn't just "ganging up" on Trump. I also do not believe that they have dropped all of their other missions. They announced a new mission. When Apple announces a new iPhone, are they saying they'll no longer sell Macbooks? The logic there doesn't follow through, it wouldn't make sense for Anonymous to abandon their top priority targets and I don't believe they have.

For Anonymous to take on this operation is a step towards proeventing the years of potential bad diplomacy that could arise from Donald Trump's inauguration. Think about it – this guy wants to close off borders, cut off major trade agreements, instigate conflict with other leaders ("Mexico is gonna pay for the wall!"), and the parliaments of other countries have discussed banning his entry into their lands. The world, if they don't already, is going to hate Donald Trump, and Anonymous knows that. This is bigger than just "bullying" him. They want to see to it that he doesn't get elected by the only means they know how.

You might say "what is shutting down his website going to do? That's stupid and a waste of time." Sure. But that's what the group does. They do this with every campaign of theirs, trying to mess with their targets servers, wipe their data, cut off their media portrayal, etc. If that's what Anonymous DOES, who can blame them for DOING it?

Again, this is not a bandwagon. This is not "My friend hates Donald Trump, I do too". Anonymous is above that. I think they know exactly what they're doing and exactly why they're doing it. So kudos to them.

  8. People listen to him and respond publicly to his words to filter what he's saying through their analysis, and I'm for that. The only people trying to stop him physically from speaking are the people like the protesters in Chicago. You know why they did that right? Because Donald Trump encourages his ralliers to "punch" other people, and have protesters "carried out on stretchers". People of color and other nationalities are bullied physically and emotionally at Donald Trump's rallies, and he loves it. He's barking at the crowd to "throw them out, get them out of here!" (if we want to talk about "don't like what you're saying then don't listen", that seems to be Trump's approach).

They don't have a "right" to prevent others from "hearing" him. That's not even what they're doing. He's all over the fucking internet every day, if you aren't hearing Donald Trump, you're living under a rock. What they're "preventing" is the savage and brutish nature of his words, his rallies, and his supporters. I don't think there are any accusations to be made towards Trump "haters".

There is hatred directed at Trump because he is turning people into animals and genuinely causing domestic and international harm. This man needs to be taken out of the race so we can return to civility.
