(TheAntiMedia) In the ongoing war between Anonymous and the Ku Klux Klan, the KKK had been fairly inactive since Anonymous took over its @KuKluxKlanUSA Twitter account. That is until the Klan retaliated yesterday afternoon.

If you have not been keeping up with the Battle of the Masks, Anonymous recently declared war aka #OpKKK against the Klan for threatening to harm Ferguson protestors.

As part of #OpKKK, Anonymous began revealing the identities of Klan members with a #hoodsoff campaign. Anonymous hackers then seized control of the Ku Klux Klan’s national Twitter account @KuKluxKlanUSA.

Which essentially brings us to where we are now…

The latest hacker in the cyber war not only swiped 29,000 fans from Anonymous, but also gave the @Operation_KKK Twitter a very, um, KKK makeover.

As it often is with Anonymous, this recent hack may or may not be what it seems. Lingering around the hacker collective are mischievous characters that include everything from government and/or corporate agents to splinter groups like Clownsec and Lulzsec; hacker factions that sometimes sabotage Anonymous actions for the “lulz.”

Anonymous splinter group, Clownsec, takes joy in both testing security and playing pranks.

The many players surrounding Anonymous has led to much speculation regarding who really is behind the hack of the @Operation_KKK account.

In response to Anonymous’ attacks, Imperial Wizard of the Traditionalist American Knight, Frank Ancona, declared war against Anonymous in this message which promises to take the battle from online to the streets.

We held a Klan wide meeting today with the Imperial Wizard, who has decided if you want war, we will give you war, not online, but on the streets, we will hunt you down and tear those masks from your face. You’ll be strung up next to the chimps. On display for the whole world to see. The Klan is to be feared, not threatened. Turn away, or face the consequences. – Frank Ancona, Grand Wizard

Members of Anonymous have vowed to retaliate against the KKK.

Although only time will tell how things play out between these enemies, Anonymous is currently redirecting #OpKKK supporters to their newly established Twitter account.

UPDATE: Anonymous claims to have regained control of its @Operation_KKK account.
