(ANTIMEDIAIt’s no secret that Ben & Jerry’s has marketed their ice cream to the weed crowd for years. With flavor names like Cherry Garcia, Half-Baked, and Hazed & Confused, it is obvious that the founders of the ice cream behemoth – Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield – are not virgins to cannabis culture. It now appears those flavor names could take on a new literal meaning.

Speaking with HuffPost Live, Ben & Jerry said that they are very open to the idea of creating and selling a cannabis-infused ice cream, when it is completely legal to do so.

“Makes sense to me,” Cohen said bluntly. “Combine your pleasures.”

Greenfield appeared a bit more apprehensive but was still open to the idea.

“Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances, and I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing,” he said. “It’s not my decision. If it were my decision, I’d be doing it, but fortunately we have wiser heads at the company that figure those things out.”

Cannabis Creamery, an ice cream manufacturer based in Richmond, California already makes a marijuana-infused ice cream for medicinal cannabis prescription holders.

  1. Kind of an odd flavour .. I would provide a caveat .. Eating weed is a different, much longer lasting effect. I ate it once, decades ago, and after an hour had passed, regretted it … For 12 hours ..very unpleasant .. If you are overwhelmed by the curiousity for eating .. Start withna very small amount. Companies labeling with dose equivancy would be a good idea. // i smoke 2 to 4 tokes of BC indica daily to help tolerate my condition .. But this stuff is STRONG … By the time it created any taste in a product, the dose would be absurdly high

  2. I guess it's more about providing the sensation of being high (and in a fairly safe measure of such I guess) on top of the ice cream's flavours – if you can't safely get flavour from weed in ice cream then so be it.
