(ANTIMEDIA) The US is breeding a Chinese-style prison labor scheme on its own soil. States and some of the biggest private companies are now enjoying the fruits of a cheap and readily available work force, with tens of millions of lobbying dollars spent by private prisons to keep their jails full.

  1. Wow! It seems like we're hypocrites when it comes 2 cheap labor! But seeing as how some convicts/lifers r POS, what's da point of even paying 'em? As well, what's da point, especially if they're a serial rapist or some kinda violent, evil person, of even treating 'em like they're a human being? I know I'm likely 2 get some flack 4 dis, but IDGAF right now!

  2. The problem isn't that we're putting cons to work, the problem is that America has instituted conditions that allow prisons to be privatized, where the company owning the prison gets paid thousands of dollars per prisoner.

Couple that with the fact that Cops are pretty much determined to always lock up minorities, & bam, instant slavery.

  3. It's amazing how ignorant some people can be in today's day and age. Yeah some people actually deserve to be treated like animals but u would be surprised how many convicts ate actually in prison for victimless crimes. Not only that but if they deserve prison or not there's a lil thing called the constitution that prohibits inhumane treatment of US citizens. Something the government violates at every opportunity because mindless sheep citizens allow them to. Maybe because those sheep actually think it could never happen to them so they accept their governments continued violations of the constitution. For those that don't know, prison is bad enough with out allowing big business to profit of the backs of convicts. That is on top of the money their paid by the government to house and care for the inmates. Basically they get paid twice smh, so they make a lot more than the average convict made during the course of their crime. People need to read up on current events, this country locks up more people than most of the world combined. That isn't a coincident either, it's all about money and also keeping the have nots of society from ever reaching their potentials in life. Which causes the next generation from having a chance because their raised with out either 1 or both of their patents to teach them right from wrong. also a large percent of convicts are in prison as a direct result of unjust laws that are aimed at the poor/minorities. I bet the jews in Germany also thought like that ignorant brother who stated that convicts deserve to be enslaved. They felt like that until they were marched to their deaths smh. But he's a sheep, the perfect citizen for the United States of Oppression, I hope he never has to find out exactly what goes on in the injustice system of Amerikkka

  6. I don't give a rat's ass if prisoners are put to work…less time for drug dealing, managing their illegal businesses, plotting, gang recruitment, radicalizing dumbass muslim converts and whatever else morons due with their spare time. However, the privatization of the labor force is beyond troubling. Any net revenue should go to victims and their families, not some corrupt conniving empty suit and their complicit criminals in the government.

  7. U.K.Le Guin wrote:"if you want criminals create private property",back in the last century alcohol went thru the prohibition which only helped the mob to move into social spheres that were rather off limits, this alone proved that it works not and the result was control and money into packets of non legal people, aided by corrupt politicians (this fact is like an unavoidable thing);now they are freeing weed, not because they see a social need in it but because they want to invest into it,so money again not social care is the coin of currency;in a social level it shall be noted the government assists the different commercial firms but never the Regular Joe;have you noticed the ammount of homeless people on the streets, any city, instead of implementing social programs in education, better paid jobs they spend it in stupid wars that bring nothig but trouble to the part of the world unlucky enough to receive Amerika's help but destroying your own back yard…….

  10. Lets be honest Keenan, if we have ove 3 million people in jail and we know that Americans are no worse than any other nationality, and we know we have harsh drug laws for people who have harmed no other people than themselves AND that you can go to jail for the crime of being black or hispanic; then it would be clear that MOST people in jail are wrongfully convicted or in jail for much longer than they should have been, or in jail instead of being given a fine……then it is very cruel to tar every prosoner with the same brush as a murderer or rapist or other evil person as these people are most likely a minority in prison.
