(ANTIMEDIA) After Pope Francis hinted that Donald Trump “is not Christian” for his proposal to build a wall around the United States to keep out, well, brown people, the billionaire and his supporters responded in kind. Pope Francis, Trump claimed, should take his own advice — Tear Down the Vatican Wall!

Quoting an article in response to the Pope’s statement, Trump wrote, “What would happen to Vatican City if it was to do what [Pope] Francis is asking America to do?” Of course, the reference is to the Vatican’s imposing, hulk of a brick wall, pictured in the post. Trump’s intimation of papal hypocrisy immediately gained over 100,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook.

On Twitter, Trump and friends began a barrage of counter-attacks on the Vatican’s rather blatant duplicity. Trump’s account filled with retweets of the ginormous Vatican wall and corresponding comments. As Ben Shapiro said, Pope on Trump: ‘A person who thinks only about building walls … is not Christian.’ This is Vatican City.

Fox News’ Tom Odell, chimed in: Pope who lives in a Vatican City fortified with huge walls thinks it’s wrong to build walls? Really?

Breitbart’s John Nolte, who had penned an article on the Vatican’s fortress wall in September, echoed Ronald Reagan’s demands about the infamous Berlin Wall, “Pope Francis: Tear Down the Vatican Wall!”

Trump clearly didn’t take the Pope’s criticism with a grain of salt. In his quintessential, self-aggrandizing style, he wrote:

“If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President because this would not have happened.”

Trump, it seems, will not be giving up the fight for The Wall any time soon.

  2. My question to those who think a wall/secure border is an insult to civility, "Do you lock the doors and windows of your home or apartment?" If yes, then by your behavior understand the rationale for secure borders.

I have just become a Buddist

  4. The pernicious pedophile priests took up residence there specifically because of the wall.

With all of their incredible wealth it would be a trivial task to put some beautiful, open arches in every side of this fortress, for the common man to come and go as they please. (and for the beleaguered alter boys to escape from)

  6. The Vatican is a globalist corporatist organization. It depends on money from the rich to keep it afloat.

It acts as a buffer between the rich and the poor by "ministering" to the poor.

It never seeks ways to end systemic poverty for that would threaten its role as middleman between the haves and the have nots.

  7. Indeed, Mark .. Trump is serious about defending America's borders from illegal alien invasion and from drug cartels smuggling both drugs and illegals across the southern border; and that's why he says what nobody else will say.
Having lived behind medieval fortress walls since assuming the Papacy, Pope Francis should understand Trump's reasoning behind erecting a wall on the US side of the border with Mexico. It's not Christian to leave national borders wide open to invasion and put the citizenry's lives at risk .. Pope Francis needs to fully understand the chaos that's enveloped Western and Northern Europe as a result of wide open borders. His native country of Argentina hasn't had to deal with invasion in 4-5 centuries.
