(ANTIMEDIA) During a recent interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, Dr. Dre revealed that he will be donating 100% of his royalties from his new album to build a performance arts center in his hometown of Compton.

“I feel it’s the right thing to do and I hope everybody appreciates the work I put into this album,” Dre said in the interview, adding that “We’ve reached out to Aja Brown quite a few times in the last month or two. I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn’t quite figure out what it was. She actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, ‘Boom, this is what we should do.'”

Dre reportedly found the inspiration for this album and this charity project while on the set of the new movie “Straight Outta Compton,” which documents the rise of NWA and the early era of hip-hop. This new album, Compton: A Soundtrack, is not to be confused with “Detox,” the long-awaited follow-up to his last major release “2001.”

It is unclear at this point if Detox will ever actually be released, as he stated in the same interview that while making the album he did not like it. He alluded to the fact that the whole project may have been scrapped.

“The reason Detox didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good. I’m gonna keep it all-the-way 1,000 with you, seriously. I worked my ass off on it, I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it,” he said in the Beats 1 interview.
