Eye Opening Tweets Directly from the Ground in Gaza

Patti Beers | The Anti-Media

Heartbreaking tweets from Gaza tell the very human story of what is is like to face death all around you, knowing full well you could be the next to go.

I’m part of a global media collective.  I don’t feel qualified to contribute to international stories and I usually just stick to covering activism in Los Angeles.  On June 18 someone asked if anyone could retweet tweets from Gaza.  That sounded easy and I had three hours to spare.   Once I began reading the tweets, deciding which ones I should retweet to a wider audience, I realized how terrible the situation was in Gaza.  People were talking about being without electricity for up to 20 hours at a time.  They had no water.  They were tweeting about homes being bombed.  They would receive a text informing them that their house would be bombed in 10 minutes.  Having no safe place to flee many people chose to stay home and wait to die.   There really is no safe place in Gaza.  They talked about how they can’t leave Palestine even if they wanted to.  Then I saw the tweets about children dying.
