(TheAntiMedia) A new study using public drone strike data was recently conducted by the human-rights group Reprieve, showing that the number of innocent people killed by drones is way higher than the government has been willing to admit.

The study focused on “targeted killings”, which are drone strikes aimed at killing a specific individual. The Obama administration has sold the targeted killing program to the public by making it like seem like these attacks are clean and calculated, with very little margin of error. However, the study found that out of 41 drone strikes that were aimed at specific individuals, an estimated 1,147 people were killed in the cross-fire.

Reprieve representative Jennifer Gibson, explained to The Guardian that for every person that the US military targets for a killing, dozens of innocent men, women and children are killed along with them.

“Drone strikes have been sold to the American public on the claim that they’re ‘precise’. But they are only as precise as the intelligence that feeds them. There is nothing precise about intelligence that results in the deaths of 28 unknown people, including women and children, for every ‘bad guy’ the US goes after,” Gibson said.

Another important thing to point out, is that not everyone who is labeled as a “militant” is dangerous. Whenever the mainstream media releases a story about drone attacks, they typically use the word “militant” to describe the victims.  This label implies that the victims are not civilians or are somehow involved in terrorism or violent military activities.

However, this is not what they are actually saying, this is a deception.

Earlier last year, the Obama Administration redefined “Militant” to mean “Military Aged Male”, so this way nearly any male who gets killed is considered a violent enemy, at least in the eyes of the general population.

This is just another step along in the process to shield the American people from the harsh reality of war.

  1. It's about time that we stopped using the word "intelligence' in any discussion regarding the military. It's a huge misnomer.

  2. I like the drones. They prevent Americans from dying, save the taxpayers money, and make third world dictators think twice when they see robots doing the killing. I am 100 percent for drones. Its too bad our military couldn't be 100 percent drones – no more men losing legs, no more PTSD, no more using the military as a political pawn. Drones are the greatest thing ever to happen to the military.
