You Are 58 Times More Likely to be Killed by a Police Officer than a Terrorist

(TFTP) Most people have seen the number floating around social media that suggests that citizens are 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist, but new data revisions suggest this number was dramatically underestimated.

The lack of accurate official records being kept in the important category of individuals killed by police was met with numerous efforts by citizens. One example, in particular, is www.killedbypolice.net. This site is used to more accurately track the number of people killed by cops yearly.

Previously, estimates of citizens killed by police were based on the self-reported data supplied by police departments, compiled into a yearly FBI uniform crime report for “justifiable homicide” by officers.

This information drastically underrepresented the number of people being killed at hands of police officers thus giving an unclear perspective of what is actually transpiring on the streets of America.

New data, as reported by the Guardian, suggests that an average of 545 people killed by police went unaccounted for yearly on average in the FBI data.

The revised estimates put the annual number of people killed by cops at an average of 928 per year over the past eight years; a conservative estimate. This information contrasts with the 461 reported killed by police by the FBI for 2013, a difference of almost 450 killings or nearly 50 percent.

When looking at terrorism, the U.S. Department of State reports that only 16 non-military U.S. citizens were killed worldwide as a result of terrorism in 2013, the most recent year data there was available data.

What this means is that a U.S. citizen is actually 58 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist.

Let that sink in for a moment.

You are almost 60 times more likely to have a police officer kill you than to be killed by a terrorist.

While civil liberties are rolled back in the name of “keeping us safe from terror,” under the auspices of the PATRIOT Act and the NDAA, the true threat to American freedom lies not some imaginary foreign boogeyman but rather here on our own streets.

The blue mafia is a much more dangerous enemy to the life, liberty and freedom of every U.S. citizen than the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda and all other terror groups combined.

The genuine threat to America comes not from the outside but from within.

  1. Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail..

  3. I would like to know what defines terrorism though? Recent mass shootings in America may not be classified as terrorism by the government but by definition they sure are. As a Muslim military member I would love to see terrorism be defined as no particular race or religion because the people who blow up abortion clinics, KKK, etc commit acts of domestic terrorism. Other than that fantastic article. Just please elaborate on terrorism so people do not believe it is just exclusive to Islam because it is NOT.

  4. Look at Obama not give a fuck. All part of the deception, a black president shows up out of nowhere and letting cops kill off his own people.

  5. That's now how government works. You have to deal with it locally. Whoever hires the badboys is responsible.

  6. Terrorists killed 2,996 on 9/11 alone The 58 times more likely cited x 2,996 would make a total of 173,768 people killed by police,.an outlandish exaggeration. Even if the inflated figures were factual of "928 per year over the past eight years" killed by police, that comes to 7,664 a far cry from 58 times.. How many were killed while committing a felony is not listed. How many were killed without lawful reason is not listed! I don't like rouge cops, nor blatant killers, but I don't appreciate B/S either!

  7. Actually, 9/11 was ages ago and Republican contractors have used it two rip off several Trillion dollars
Of US tax money with all the fear mongering. Max. American deaths due to terrorism is about 70 plus in last tens years but U.S. Gun deaths due to gun nuts in USA is over 300,000 in last 10 years. The NRA statistically is the Worlds most killing terror organization.

  8. How many Americans were comitting crimes at the moment they were murdered by terrorists? Not all police killings are justified, but zero terrorist killings are.

  9. How can one definitively say that the deaths were not just? Not knowing the circumstances for each death makes it awfully presumptuous to assume that the police were in the wrong every time. Who is to say that they didnt do what they had to in order to protect their lives and possibly others in the community. Could this not also possibly signify that people are committing worse crimes? Unless a qualified legal expert sifts through every incident and determines whether each loss was poor judgement on the part of law enforcement, then no one can really say. It definitely doesn't warrant declaring that our civil liberties are being taken away or that the police in America are our biggest enemy. Those are harsh claims for what little evidence there is given to support them.

  10. "Terrorism" and "enemy combatants" are just some made up words from the Bush adminstration. They needed some fresh propaganda terms to push for their illegal wars & for breaking the Genevia Convention (The WORLD'S standard for treatment of prisoners.)
So it seems most of our "terrorists" are Government sponsored. We have the TSA, 65,000 people, (that collect federal wages, benifits & retirement), that have never caught a 'terrorist', but over 400 of them have been caught stealing from passengers. And then we have the stories of the abuses they seem to infict on innocent people. And for icing on the cake we have them lying about the scanners they claim are used for scanning passengers.
We also have domestic terroists called the Patriot Act & Homeland Security.
Then we have our foriegn 'terrorists', (our own Government supplies them with arms.) Need I say more?

Sarah it's all propaganda run by our own media….criminals are criminals, no need for new definitions….
